It is totally impossible to find Opterons Stepping E4 on stock !
Neither in US/Canada nor in Europe !
Im looking for OSA244BLBOX or OSA244BLWOF since May and already decided to buy
one of 246 of same kind. But i can't find them !
does anyone know an Europe e-shop where those processors are available ?

Thx.

i love how posting to the forum of the manufacturer of the desired product (AMD in this case) illicits absolutely zero useful response. now i'll try a cross post and see what happens, 4 months later.

I can at least offer some info on two possible sources of Opteron E4 246 OSA246BLBOX cpus, And don't bother searching in the Opteron 246 section of Pricewatch.com as the two there say they have them in stock(Strangely the dealer part numbers and prices match too) and that is on pricewatch.com only, On their own websites They are both selling OSA246AUBOX cpus and the OSA246BLBOX pricewatch.com ads are linked to those same OSA246AUBOX web pages, I raised the subject by email to one and I've gotten no response and when I mentioned It on the forum of the other and merely said that It had the appearance of Bait(BL) and Switch(AU) I was told to get lost by a user or two(I wasn't trying to imply anything, I just thought that since It sounds like an ad for a product someone is selling that someone would notice an error and fix It, Alsa It still hasn't happened yet), But the not by the forum staff of course as they remained silent on the topic, Which for all I know could have been deleted as they are able and want to do at their discretion.

Here are two websites that I found while doing a lot of hunting online using Google:

$235.74 @ sparco.com' ">http://www.sparco.com/cgi-bin/wfind2?spn=A80G051
$243.34 @ shopblt.com' ">http://www.shopblt.com/cgi-bin...tml&ORDER_ID=150923662

Note: Both websites show the cpu as back ordered and I'm waiting to buy one in December as I'll have enough to buy one for zoom3 then. /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

This site is ran by independents, meaning, AMD supplies the resources, everyone else has NOTHING to do with AMD. Dont bash.

Is AMD actually making and shipping these chips? I backordered with BLTshop.com in early November, and the original ETA has already been missed. The next ETA is supposed to be Dec 2nd, but if they miss that date, too, I'll have to start wondering if this is some kinda phantom cpu. Newegg and ZipZoomFly don't even list this proc.

The OSA246BLBOX is the sweet-spot for price/performance... I'd hate to think they are intentionally not shipping them "on time" so folks like me will get frustrated and buy the more expensive (and less bang-for-the-buck) chips.

Sigh.
