What is the best CPU for mathematical software (Mathematica, Maxima, Yacas, Maple, Mathcad, ...)
Opteron, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 X2, Xeon, Conroe, ???????????????

im pretty srue these are multithreaded, so dual core of course...

opteron = athlon FX = athlon at the same clocks. the rest is marketing. they are identical CPUs.

while i have not seen benchmarks specifically confirming this, seeing as how the conroe tends to lead just performance in just about everything, i would think the conroe.
