Anybody have a suggestion for an inexpensive (ha!) server chassis that will support an SSI MEB form factor motherboard?

I am open to either tower or rackmount, though my preference would be for rackmount.

Check the Chassis Plans MQS4U-20A. Not inexpensive but will rackmount a MEB 13x16.2-inch motherboard such as the Tyan Thunder n6550EX. Really targeted (no pun intended) at the rugged military market where they need a robust chassis for transit case installation or use in a vehicle or aircraft. Thus it's pretty pricy but what is the cost of failure in those situations?

... yea, but he asked for cheap. why would you go recommend a mil-spec case for that? oh, I see.. you just want to sell your overpriced junk.

Go for Norco, there are a few 2u and 4u cases on newegg.com for $75ish + $30 shipping. The RPC-470 and RPC-270 would fit the bill just fine, the 4u giving you full height PCI slots, and the 2u giving you half height slots.
