Greetings all,

I am a beginner computer builder, and after browsing the eggxpert forums figuring out what components would go well together, I have recently put in an order at newegg for the following parts:

HDD - Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

PSU - PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W EPS12V SLI NVIDIA SLI Certified (Dual 8800 GTX and below) CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail

CASE - COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

MoBo - ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

GPU - SAPPHIRE 100270SR Radeon HD 4850 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-bit x 2) GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail

CPU - AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor Model HD985ZXAGHBOX - Retail

RAM - OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR800C44GK - Retail

The parts have yet to come in, but I would like to prepare myself for whatever problems I might run into while putting this rig together.

Are there any precautionary measures I should take before setting everything up? I would appreciate any words of wisdom or a general step-by-step guide. I would HATE to fry the CPU from carelessness, or damage any component for that matter.

Thanks in advance!

XP by itself won't recognize the full 4gb of memory. Make sure you use a 64bit OS to address all of it.

Nice system

Make sure you avoid static, a mat and wrist strap are smart things to have.
