This is my first attempt with some serious Overclocking...

So far, I've pushed it up to 3.4ghz; have had it running like that for about 5 days now, still stable. Pushing Far Cry 2 at full game settings, Crysis, UT3, etc... running 3dMark06... and so far haven't had any problems.

I am using the Stock fan and heatsink that came with the chip. Seems like a fairly heft Cooler. Friend has the 720BE and says my cooler is better then his Stock one.

vCore manually set at 1.350.

CPUz reports core Temps averaging between high 40's Idle and high 50's/low 60's under load.

I used the unlocked Multipliers to overclock.

So now I am wondering...

1. How much further can I go; without having to go out and purchase a fancier, more expensive cooler that I can't afford?

2. What tweaks do I need to make within BIOS, to keep it stable?

Im pretty sure you'll need a better heatsink if you wanna push it any further. The AMD specs say the max temperature of the 940 is 63'c, so if your hitting low 60'c with the stock cooler there isnt much else you can do.

Decent coolers aint that expensive, look into an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, this cooler should let you get to 3.7ghz easy, plus it will be quiet + cold as hell compared to stock cooler.

Once you have better cooling, increase voltage to 1.45, increase multi so your at 3.5ghz, and see if shes still stable, keep going. If you find your still unstable try messing with ram settings, my overclock was unstable til I increased ram voltage and changed latency settings.
