I have 4x2GB of the PC3-16000 Flares (CL7 timings), but they just don't play well with all dimms populated.
So, as some of you know, I recently switched to 2x4GB G. Skill RipjawsX PC3-14900 memory.
I was hesitant at first because of the looser (CL9) timings with this set.
The clincher was a $99.99 Newegg special that included a free 2GB USB flash drive.
My initial testing of the RipjawsX showed that they can easily overlock to 1907MHz with stock CL9 timings and voltage (1.50v).
However, I wanted a blend of 24/7 stable 1090T@ 4.0GHz with the higher memory frequency.
I would have never dreamed it, but they are 24/7 stable with a Bus Speed of 286MHz:
2x4GB G. Skill RipjawsX:
2x2GB G. Skill Flares:
The CL7 Flares have a faster memory write and latency.
But the CL9 RipjawsX shine with a faster L3 cache speed.
So in a nutshell, even with CL9 timings, I'm very pleased with the speed of this RipjawsX set.
