I just got this AquariusII liquid cooling kit . I installed it only on the AMD 3200+ CPU I have and I find that it is no better than the Zalman all copper HSF I have . I only get a 2*C drop in the temp? what? I spent 100 bucks and this thing can only give me 42-43c , the Zalman gave me 44-45c and put it under a load and I get the same 45-55c . I am getting the Koolance: EXT-A03 Exos-AL Aluminum Liquid Cooler + CPU Block as of tommarow I have looked into it and I think this will do it (IF not then it goes BACK! any one ever have the problem I am having with the thermaltake AquariusII ? and does any one know if the koolance will be any better ? please no talking about others as I can not get them because you cant get them at frys or pc club. thanks..

Yep. That's what can happen if you switch from good aircooling to sort-of-ok watercooling. Watercooling carries only the potential of better cooling performance. There's nothing about watercooling that ensures you'll get lower temperatures than you had with aircooling. In either case, in order to get high performance cooling you've got to use high performance parts. Most of the cheap watercooling kits around don't use high performance parts since they're geared towards low noise rather than low temperatures.

I believe that Swiftech make some of the best waterblocks, pumps and their HydrX Coolant is definitely good.

When it comes to water cooling, just as Mime said, don't expect better results with a lower end water cooling kit. If you want something good, you're going to have to set it up custom and choose all the parts yourself.

Nowdays, you can actually chill the water running through your pipes. This can be done with Swiftech's water chiller block, it's a nice little gadget, and will obviously drop your temperatures quite a bit.

I would recommend the DangerDen parts or the Asetek parts, the DD parts more so.

The DD parts are probably the best because they use 1/2" ID fittings which means the Inner Diametre of the fitting is measured instead of other systems that use Outer Diametre parts or OD where the Outer Diametre of the fitting is measured. So if you've got 1/2" ID fittings the Inner Diametre is 1/2". If you've got 1/2" Outer Diametre fittings then the Inner Diametre is only 3/8". This may not sound a big difference but it can affect the flow in your system. I think with systems like Tt and others, they use 10mm fittings which are only 8mm Inner Diametre which would restrict your water flow considerably!

Also, there are other factors to take into consideration. Abient temperature of your room for example. If your room temperature is quite warm then your cooling system is going to run quite warm aswell. Viscosity of the fluid your using plays another important factor on how well your system will work. My cheap cooling kit in my main PC is only used to make the PC quieter, not cooler.
By only having one fan for both the CPU and graphics card.

Many kits are designed for this in mind, rather then "extra cooling"
