Just FYI it 'can' work, but it won't be more effecient then a heat-pipe.
Why:
A heatpipe has a liquid inside that vaporizes, taking heat from the hot areas of the pipe, to the cool end. (read more on AMDEdge.com about that)
Using a copper wire all on it's own will allow heat to travel down the wire, but it will not be very fast, and the difference in a heatpipe is that cool liquid is returned back to the heatsource. Like a conveyor belt.
