zincschumacher Senior Member Posts: 1088 Joined: 09/05/2004	oh, Copper conducts heat so quick, I am think of using used copper wire from electric cables (Collect them from rubbish, or waste cable), So I could attact them to the heatsink fins, stick them by heatsink compound, and can conduct heat to the "out-blowing" fans... I still didn't figure out the whole plan in picture form, but I will surely share it later. ------------------------- ------Zinc Schumacher------

zincschumacher Senior Member Posts: 1088 Joined: 09/05/2004	It doesn't like a pipe I think. That should be a wire with no liquid inside. I would plan to wrap a layer of plastic or not removeing plastic cover from middle part of the cable. The only esposed are are the contacting area of copper wire to heatsink and the connected part towards the Fan. Heat will not release back to the case before it reach the fan. Thats just like a theory of air-conditioning duct system in engineering. (Wraping a insulator outside). The effect is not firmed yet, but worth a try if it pays no money and no harm to my system. I might do it when I finsih a Wedding Cerebration of my father's cousins' daughter......far relative of me... I will post pic of the design. ------------------------- ------Zinc Schumacher------

ZapWizard Senior Member Posts: 1393 Joined: 10/06/2003	Just FYI it 'can' work, but it won't be more effecient then a heat-pipe. Why: A heatpipe has a liquid inside that vaporizes, taking heat from the hot areas of the pipe, to the cool end. (read more on AMDEdge.com about that) Using a copper wire all on it's own will allow heat to travel down the wire, but it will not be very fast, and the difference in a heatpipe is that cool liquid is returned back to the heatsource.
