I am looking at liquid cooling for my new Athlon 3400+ system. I noticed Koolance is a rather solid brand but also rather pricey for an external system. I might as well buy a new case from them with the cooling for less than just a cooler.

I would be cooling my CPU and hard drives not my video card as I do not want to void the warranty on it.

Also I might cool my ram... just depends on if they make attachments for that.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Koolance is ok, but not the best. Go to Danger Den and piece together a setup there for better performance and at a better price. A good air cooling setup will beat a mediocre water cooling one.

One thing that people should be aware of. It is physically impossible for a normal water cooling setup to go below ambient temperature. To do that, one needs to chill the water or use a peltier.

I'd also point out that it is rather pointless to cool the hard drives. all that accomplishes is that you cool the top plate, but since the platters don't make contact wth it, it makes no difference in temps.

Water cooling is great if you want to OC or to have a quieter system. As Silk said look into Danger Den. Agree about the HD cooling being not needed and as for ram coolers I have seen them but only think they are needed if going with extreme voltage of over 3v.

I am on my way to doing watercooling right now. It isn't necessary but it is fun and will let me get a little more performance out of my equipment. I already have some of the stuff and the rest is in the mail right now.

I agree with Silk. I wouldn't do the Koolance. I mean, I'm sure it works, but probably not much better than a good air setup, yet a lot more money. I went with Danger Den stuff for pretty much everything.

By the way, if you haven't seen one of these yet check it out. I just ordered one because I liked the idea.

But well, you and jer2eydevil88 should take a look at one Silk_the_Absent1's topic called "ugly ducting".
That's one [content edited] of cooling solution, and incredibly cheaper than any watercooling kit...

If you are not a OCer...but you want the system be more reliable.
I recommend the Coolermaster Aquagate Mini series to you.
Efficency is not that high as the liquid cooling for OCer...
but you can taste that sweet without OC...or you want to OC for benchmark (which to test how fast your system can go).
