I'm looking into water cooling, id like to hear what you guys have if you have water cooling that is. Also the price you paid, what you would suggest, warn me of, and or what you have done differently.

I'm looking to have this setup so someone with a similar setup would be grand:
Fx-55 (939)
2gb OCZ 4000 gold
2 74gb raptors
Nvidia 6800gt (im thinking of getting the danger den water block)
Asus av8 deluxe
A fan controller and a couple of drives (cd/dvd)

I've personally never seen hard disc or ram coolers (water cooled) but it looks like something i'd be interested in.

Please help an intuative mind, thanks for your time....
Essi

What is your reason for going into watercooling?

That might help determine what equipment you should get.

Danger den' ">http://www.dangerden.com/ is where I went. I spent close to 300 but love it. Also I have never seen ram coolers and don't think I have come across HD coolers either.

Ram water coolers are a waste, and harddrive coolers are only needed if your drives get overly hot. Other than that, they're basically just for bragging rights.

Air can do pretty good these days. The boys down at thermalright are making some great heatsinks.

If your looking to go H20 be prepared to spend some money. Stay away from those kits like koolance, aerogate, and such. You can get a heatsinks that will perform equally. I second looking at danger den. with these components:

TDX cpu block
Maze4 chipset block
NV-68 block
d4 pump
dual heatercore (or single if you run into space issues)
10 feet of primochill tubing
hose clamps
the dual bay res

That is a top notch setup right there, if it's too much let me know and I can change a few things. Also for the radiator look at www.moddershq.com the make a dual heater core with a sweet shroud. I would get that heatercore if possible. Also heaercores will out perform the black ice and thermochill rads. The biggest tip I can give you is don't go cheap because you get what you pay for.

I was thinking of playing with water cooling when I get some money.. with an electric hot rod water pump and a car radiator with a nasty electric fan and a peltier. (ok when I get alot of money) couldnt you put auto 50\50 mix coolant in a watercooled system to prevent corrosion from dissimilar maetals? it would also be green and thats a plus.

There already is additives that you can put in it. You'd be mad not to, corrosion would ruin your lovely kit.

I use Purple Ice.

You could go with water cooling or you skip that and just buy a Dual Evaporator single phase change unit off Chilly1 over on the XS forums.

I built my water setup. Used a swamp cooler pump (~300GPH), 3/8" ID tubing, and a home made block. No radiator, as I used a 1 gallon reservior. Worked very well, though I ended up switching to an air setup that comes very close to a lot of average water cooling setups, the Ugly Ductling' ">http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=13276&hl=.

I had a leak the other week, there was a puddle in my PC case!

It was the tube from the pump that had a small leak. It was dripping every few seconds. Duct (Duck?) tape sorted it out though.

Not pretty, but dry.

Nah, I haven't got one. Those pictures are just from Chilly's thread.

I'm in the process of building a Single evap phase change at the moment. I've found a compressor on Ebay, now I've just got to find a Vaccum pump but they're so expensive.
