I have started hearing alot about the new phase changing style of cooling. I was seriously thinking about this, the tests were done with an P4 Extreme Edition and had it overclocked to 5.01GHz and it was running at 0 degrees C. There is also another case which may be loud but it keeps the PC very cool under full loads it peaked at 10-18 degrees C. So what do you think about these options.

That is true but I would almost pay for it to keep my PC that cool.

if you can afford it, go for it. personally I think subzero cooling is silly and really only for benchmark whores...

I suggest water if you want to keep things cool and quite. It will also save lots of money over Vapochill.

The OCZ doesnt. Mine does, if you run it 24/7. the OCZ would be an extra $5 a month is my guess if you ran it for an average 8 hours per day. quote:

Heh. The parts for mine have cost me next to nothing.

Try a Google search for Computer AC Units. I remember seeing the other day a Air Conditioning unit that mounts into the front of your case. Might be a cheaper alternative to Vapochill yet better than water. BTW: The 5.0Ghz test I seen they used liquid nitrogen and had the sucker at -245C and running 5.10Ghz. The pic showed it running too!! Brrrrr!!! Just imagine a FX60 chip with liq nitrogen!!! Drooling already!!

that AC unit is just a fan, theres nothing air conditioning about it.
so it really doesnt do much at all
and even if it was an AC unit that wouldnt make it better than water

liquid nitrogen isn't an everyday 24/7 cooling solution. it's used primarily for record overclocks. AZ, that AC unit is actually a peltier type cooler, like the ones found in electric coolers.

oh thats right ive seen that one too
but the first one i remembered is just a radial kind of fan that fit in a 5.25" bay
even cooling intake by pelt isnt going to beat water though

It was at -145c I think you mean. LN2 boils at -196 IIRC and you don't get it much colder than that.

Is Vapochill that one that costs about £500.00 and is build to sit under a Lan-Li case? I saw a review in a magazine on it. If only I were made of cash ! Childish I know, but the first thing I would do if I got one would be to stick the CPU heat sink on my forehead & see if I can give myself an ice cream headache !

You'd get much more than that, trust me

First of all.. like Carlzor said already.. Liquid Nitrigen's boiling point is -195.8°C if it was -245 I'm pretty sure the system wont be able to operate at those temps.. or if its even possible to achieve those temps with LN2.. -245°C is too close to absolute zero...

[content edited] now you guys got me confused on if I should go with water or phase change! The only thing I dont like about phase is youll have 2 big insulated lines taking up the inside of the case rather than neatly running a couple of small flexible hoses. and adds xtra cost to the utility bill. I dont know about you guys but here in Colorado our utilities have gone up like 5 times in the past year and they are talking about raising rates even more. of course if it gave me 300MHZ more I would really consider; plus water can really never remain cooler than room temps unless you kept the water slightly chilled. but I dont really know what Im talking about either, lol
INFRNL; back to my homework on cooling(would b nice to break 3ghz mark!

Actually, you only have one insulated line inside the case: That's what a vapochill looks like mounted.
