wow. you could do better? let's see then. you obviously have no idea about how hard it is to put 2 computers in a small space. i thought it was really cool, good find.

I would honestly like to see you attempt something of that scale and do a better job than he did. You don't like it? Fine, that's your personal preference. Is it a failed project? No. He completed it the exact way he wanted to.

I could put another PC in my case no worries. Its one of those server cubes. Hmm....it might be a good idea actually, if I put a Mini ITX board in, booting from a flash drive and running one of the Linux Firewall variants. Attach it up to a KVM switch in the case too, and I could have a rather handy (and secure) dedicated hardware firewall. [content edited].....if I put a 4 port LAN card on the MiniITX board too, I could use it as a router as well. Heh....put 2 MiniITX boards in and I could run a Mini-Fileserver in there to (I have mounts for 12 HDD's...and 2 PSU's) It would take a bit too much time though, which I dont have to spare at the minute.

when I mod something, it's for functionality, seldom for eyecandy. better cooling and easier access, pratical things, etc. "looks" for a case don't matter much to me, as long as it does what is supposed to do.

Outside looks nice, but cable management ick...I wouldn't do it just for exterior looks.

I really don't think that paint job looks all that nice. I've tried painting wood before, it never works out how you'd like it to. Its a great idea, but I wouldn't have used wood for the case, unless he was going to stain it or something.

yes the painted wood looks terrible should have just sanded and stained it if you must use wood

i like it... not quite exactly the way i would've done it, and not the color I would've picked, but executed very well all the same... and what really matters is he likes it. Dust should be fun to clean out of that case though, what with it having no filters and all those fans... pantyhose is my recommendation.
Anyways nice job

his big mistake was using mdf, or particleboard. so using a stain wasn't an option either. a better alternative would have been using a colored acrylic, although it would have been much harder to work with and likely not nearly as sturdy.
for what it is, the builder did a good job. I think the internal wiring was secondary to having a clean exterior look. I wish a picture of the finished back had been included.
it's not pretty, but he accomplished what he set out to do.
