I am in a slight bother. I want to buy the ASUS M2A-VM HDMI motherboard due to its intergrated X1250 chipset, but am unsure as to what its overclockability is. I know the clock frequency can be set from 200MHz to 400MHz but I would appreciate it if someone with physical experience could tell me what the potential of the board, or chipset at least is. The CPU I am aiming for is the 2GHz AMD Athlon64 X2 4000, 90nm and 2x 1MB L2 caches.

A friend was looking at that board a few months back. When I discovered that the max VDimm was 2.1v, the board was never again considered. Sorry I don't have any hands-on experience. I find myself running a lot of memory that needs high voltage to maintain speed and latencies that I like.

I generally don't plan taking my memory so high that I start to need voltage adjustments. I got that board though, will see how well it OCs. I read a review on Hothardware.com where they took an AthlonX2 5200 to 2.92GHz. Thats 225MHz FSB. But the limitation they encountered I am convinced was not the mobo, but the CPU. Will love to see the performance. I bought this: 90nm Windsor AthlonX2 4000 with 2MB L2 cache; 2x 512MB DDR2-800 Kingston HyperX CL4 and that mobo. Could be quite interesting I think... A R800 mobo, R650 CPU and R900 RAM. Would love to see what I end up scoring in 3DMark 2006. CPUscore though, because I will be using the onboard X1250 for a few months until I buy a proper gfx card. Maybe just a 512MB X1950XT, maybe an HD3600XT
:-p lol
