I was given a UV lamp for a computer the other day and was wonder what the best why to get the max effect from it..
I have 3 other 120mm fans with led's.
Now I've installed the lamp and a couple of uv sata cable, but the UV effect seems dull..
Should I somehow remove or disconnect (cut the wire) the led's from the fans. Would it help brighten the UV effect..
Thanks..

Here's two shots of my rig. It should be plenty bright depending on where you place the lamp and how big they are. These shots show two 12 cm UV CCLs on the roof of my Lian-Li V1100. The 120mm Window fan is a blue LED, and the 90mm Zalman HSF is a blue LED. 2nd shot is with room lights on.

Ravanger, Extremely quiet! I have both the front and rear 120mm fans that came with the case running at 900 rpm to 1400 rpm depending on case temp (controlled by Smart Guardian mobo monitor fan controller that's bundled with the DFI mobo). Even at 1400 rpm these fans are <20 dB. The side case 120mm fan is a Thermaltake Thunder blade Blue L.E.D. running at 1600 rpm (when maxed - controlled by the Antec PSU via the PSU header on the mobo) and is an 18 dB fan. The 90mm Blue L.E.D. on the Zalman CNPS9500 HSF is the loudest when I'm gaming as it runs at 2400 rpm. Still, that's relative as it's a whisper at 28 dB. I'm also running an Arctic Cooling nV Silencer 5 on the 6800GT which is extremely quiet, even when gaming. The Lian-Li V1100 is an awesome case (but admitedly pricey ). It's the case I'm going to build my 65nm AM2 SLi (or XFire) rig in....when I strike oil

Think it depends on how warm your system runs. What HSF on ur opty? Do u have an aftermarket cooler on your nVidia card? What's airflow over the power management (Mosfets) on ur DFI mobo? Do U OC? The 120mm in the window moves alot of air at low rpm and is near noisless. I OC both the CPU and my video card, but I really like a quiet system cause my rig is on my desk right next to me. I'd go fo it, but personal preference.

Andrew,
It just looks more tilted because of the angle of the shot - camera was at about desk height. Sitting at the desk, the angle is just fine.
and I'm 6' 0"

1) VERY neat and tidy case m8! 2) NICE setup too, to boot...way ta represent AMD. 3) As for the UV lamps, I have a UV setup too. Like previously mentioned, 2 cathodes with one mounted right at the top and one at the bottom, and hidden by the side-door's frame, would be excellent. It's doing an awsome job in my rig right now...and I have a ThermalTake Xaser III (HUGE case...much like the TT Armor)! If you're interested in painting some cables, or peripherals, or whatnot, check out ClearNeon (also available at FrozenCPU). That stuff seems a bit pricy, but it does an excellent job and is uber-UV reactive when hit with a black light. GG!

I know, it's the Dell 24 inch right? Something like that after my next system build which will be in Spring '07!
