Can anyone tell me if Call of Duty 4 online is still alive? Was thinking about buying it for PC if online play is still going strong.

I play COD4 (as well as all my friends) online. Just about every Lan I attended also played COD4, its highly worth paying for. I have heard the new version (W.O.W.) is not as good.

W.A.W (World at War not W.O.W (World of Warcraft) is horrible. Stick to COD 4 until COD Modern Warfare 2 comes out.

Of course; it works fine on most of the systems so you don't have to have an uber-rig to play it. Also, it's very balanced between sides.

Currently the CoD series is competitively dead.. coming from a professional backround, going to the world series of gaming for Cod2 and was top 5 in Cevo-p for Cod4, it has been dead for quite a few seasons. If you are looking to get call of duty, wait for call of duty 6... its made by infinity ward ( the makers who have made all the successful cod games)... Do NOT buy cod5.. it was made by treyarch who made the unsuccessful versions of cod (big red 1, UO, cod5) .

Why do Treyarch get so much criticism? I have W.A.W on Xbox and imo its just as good as Cod4, although the story isnt as good the gameplay and multiplayer make up for it.

I'm not interested in ladders and such things.
CoD 2 is way more nice to play then any other version and that's why we still play it.
The next one will be moder edition too. Not a problem for most FPS games, but CoD was the only one worthy to play with the old stuff rather then the modern.

They get critism because they tend to make worse versions than inifinity ward (the actual makers of cod)...
Cod5 was a complete failure for the PC.. many people only played it for a few days or maybe a week and tried to sell on ebay...
the best have easily been vcod (cod1) cod2 and cod4... those of which have all been made by infinity ward..
and to overmind, Yes.. i still play cod2 almost every day.. i still enjoy it..

I like all games of call of duty, but i am tight of modern warfare 2.
But its very expensive. GR!
The most of all Ive played Cod 2. That was fun XD
You can play all COD Episodes still Online.
