Okay, okay, so it's not Half life 2, Halo 2, or Doom 3, but I've been a fan of the old Microprose game from the 80's Pirates! they had it on the SNES and called it Pirates Gold. Now, Good ole Sid and Firaxis have put out a modern version and it's reported to be good.

What I liked about Pirates! is the open endedness of the game and the replay value were great.

Way I figure it, games come and games go. Only a few find their place in the hearts of men and women for sheer replay value. You know, the kind of game you still enjoy playing five years after it's release. Graphics are good, but don't guarantee replay value. For me Starcraft, and Hero's of Might and Magic 3 Complete fall into this catagory. Pirates does as well.
