ok when i try to patch bf2 to v1.3 it says i don't have enough hdd space.
now it is true that my c drive doesn't but the game is installed on e drive w about 54 gig free

ok ur right, if ur c drive does not have space it would not install because it temporarily decompresses it in c drive,
so just right click my computer-->Advanced-->Environment Variables and just redirect the system and user variables "TEMP" and "TMP" to some drive that has enough space..

Believe me, it took me an entire hour to figure that out when it happened to me, and i had no internet acess at that time, so i was at my own... no help...

yeah, for instance, when you uncompress a file straight to a different HDD you still need room on the main drive!
