QUOTE(nwo @ Oct 13 2005, 05:13 PM)WTF is up with the SMGs....  I mean it's like after a second the crosshair disappears and you start spraying all over the place, that really sucks, that and the fact that you can't view your health!

/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' />

so true. when you let the SMGs rip, it reminds of those movies when a weak little girl holds a machine and it goes off, and she's spinning around trying to hold the thing.

I hope they get feedback from beta testers and still have time to 'tweak' the game. the health system has got to go. the shaking has to be eased up a LOT, and the uncontrollable force of the SMG throwing you around is a bit crazy too. otherwise, i know its still gonna be awesome (just not FEAR awesome /wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /> )

The fact that the guy is breathing heavy makes me nervous and less oriented of my surroundings, it's really ghey and needs to go, and what's wrong with having a health bar /rolleyes.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='rolleyes.gif' />

the 'heavy breathing' is done in FEAR as well. there, its done for atmosphere. say a ghost runs by you, your character starts panting and heart beat is heard. its all done to scare the ** out of you, and it sorta works.

in CoD2, its done to indicate you are going to die, since they got rid of the health bar. and they got rid of the health bar to make it more 'real', i guess, but having your guy regenerate instead to full health isnt too real either, and neither is having a radar map showing where you are and where you need to go. i dont think GPS was out back in WW2.

i say bring back health kits. /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

I say bring back the healthkits, the healthbar, realistic crosshairs, and get rid of the stupid breathing!

I'm not all that impressed. As mentioned before the health part is very stupid. The graphics remind me of halo 2 and I think they are kinda cartoonish. IMO the original CoD was much better. I would say that BF2 is much more realistic than CoD2.

if you can compare a xbox quality with pc quality then there is something wrong here ! cuz halo 2 is only on xbox and the quality i get from halo 1 on my pc is so much better !

i agree with the health thing, but it might create a new type of multiplayer, it would be more intense and require a lot of concentration to make the kill, none however to avoid it.

I think he was comparing it to the 'cartoonish' look of the Halo series, whereas the original CoD and BF2 had a more realistic look.

all and all, i think some of the textures in CoD2 were made to look good on a television. for example, the enemies on the rooftops look way too large compared to how far they stand, and it seems like they are too easy to hit. i guess on a television screen, they cant be too small or you lose the resolution, plus they need to make it easy so console-junkies can aim and shoot with a gamepad. i dunno, it feels too much like a PC-port, which is a big shame. pc delevopers screw the people that made them famous, and run to the cash cow of the consoles.

i think BF2 need to make a quick expansion back to WW2 era and we will have a CoD2 killer of a game; BF2 graphics + WW2 setting.

i played the demo again.

dang, i really really want to be blown away by this game, as i've been hoping for more of CoD since being hooked on the first one, but it just feels like an expansion pack, not a whole new game. and it seems they carried over the one thing i hated the most in United Offensive; if you are killing germans at a location, but dont advance, they will keep coming and coming and coming. the first CoD had a finite amount of enemies at certain locations, and after they were dead, you'd advance. now in CoD2, just like UO, until you pass a 'trigger' line, the germans keep-a-coming infinitely.

and the one thing i loved in UO, how you can take the machine gun tripod and set it up wherever, doesnt seem to work in the demo. WTF?

and i still think there is too much 'screen shaking', and even at full 1280res and all details maxed out, the graphics look almost at par with the first CoD. with HL2, BF2, and now FEAR, CoD2 looks a bit dated graphics wise. still amazing looking, but just missing that 'next-gen' feel to it.

EDIT: about the graphics, i noticed there is only 'EXTRA LOW, LOW, MEDIUM' for model detail, i think. perhaps its just the demo (although it is a MASSIVE demo), but maybe full game has a lot higher detail? i seem to recall the screenshots from Gamespot looking a lot nicer.

Predictible story line and tired characters. An overpriced game that will undoubtedly hog system resources.

THANK YOU!!!!

But seriously, I dont like the idea of the sequel to one of my fav pc games being a port,
but i liked the demo and I think the game itself will be fine even if the players are disproportional to the map. I think while unfotunate, something like this is not enough to make me not want to buy a game.

I did play the demo. I will aquire the game probably tomorrow.
Though the engine is old, the game looked good.
Just a reminder: CoD was the best WW-based FPS.
We'll see if CoD 2 will be as good as we want.

Didn't look new to me.
I realy think it's the old one with some improvements.
I have the game now & I'm playing it.
It's very impressive. It does indeed feels like there's a war out there (not just the walk-in-the-park like in other gmaes of this type).

I like it. Although it does not feel as intense as the first CoD. The main part I speak of is of course Stalingrad. Because in CoD 1 they really make it feel like you are gonna die there on that boat and you won't make it. Very intense.

8/10 for CoD 2
