Stratford Racecourse is situated just south of Birmingham on the outskirts of the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon. The paddock suite is a spacious conference facility that is ideally suited to small-to-medium-sized lans. Offering space for 100 seated gamers with their PCs/consoles, a separate social area and a wealth of facilities, events held at Straford racecourse are on a winner from the start.
• Limited separate sleeping space indoors
• Outdoor camping space
• Caravan parking space by prior arrangement
• Free shower facilities
Whilst there are some separate sleeping rooms in the building, with a capacity of 100 seated gamers space for sleeping is at a premium indoors. However, there is a large camping area just outside which we strongly recommend people make use of. Camping is free, and there is plenty of space for even the largest of tents. Caravans can also be brought with prior arrangement with the venue.
A shower block on site provides both male and female washing facilities. The showers are token-operated, and tokens can be obtained from the event organisers
• Kitchen with limited equipment
• Separate social area
• Outdoor sports area
The large kitchen in the venue has limited facilities available for use by attendees. Hot water is available from the still, limited fridge space is there to be faught over and a microwave is provided for communal use. Please leave the kitchen in the state you found it!
The separate social area is where most of the action can be found in the evenings. From board games and playstation big screen action, to drinking games and music, the social area proves that us geeks are very social creatures!
For those feeling a little energetic during the event, and weather permitting, the Racecourse has a section of grassland on which we are allowed to play games such as football, ultimate frisbee and rugby. Watch for the callouts for people for games in the good weather.
Food and Drink
• Bring your own food, drink and alcohol
• Very limited on-site catering
• Plenty of local supermarkets and takeaways
The racecourse venue allows attendees at our events to bring in their own food and drink. They do not provide a bar and catering provision on-site is limited to a cafe that serves breakfast for a couple of hours in the morning. The hours of opening of this cafe vary from event to event, and sometimes it does not open at all. Attendees will be notified of the opening hours of this by email or on arrival.
Local amenities make up for the lack of venue catering. There are a number of supermarkets within a short drive of the venue, and a number of local takeaways will deliver direct. One in particular ("Buddies") makes regular visits to the venue to take orders for delivery. It's a good idea to stock up on drinks and snacks from a supermarket on the way to the event.
Additional Information : Free Soft drinks all weekend, Free Open Air BBQ on saturday night.
Please note - A deposit of £10 is required off each player attending as soon as possible - contact me for details of how to play. The rest is required before you arrive if possible or on the door when you arrive. Fairwars
