OK what's the deal about Starforce?
So game manufacturers include some copyright protection software for obvious reasons.

So where or what exctly is the gripe with this compared to past copyright protection?
I read that it can mess up your optical drive among other things but other than that, i know squat.

I play mostly games from 2003 and before, very little of 2004 and almost none of 2005 so far and it looks like i have avoided it.

But I am interested in playing King Kong after watchin' the film. Graphics look great but the gameplay itself?

If someone can kindly give the low downs on Starforce, i'll be much obliged.

The peak of the StarForce 3 protection system is the encryption of all data on the DVD (like in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory).
doing that makes sure that an .exe crack is not possible.
So this is the good thing from the manufacturers p.o.v.
The bad thing is that in a lot of situations, SF3 will not work even if one has the original version of the game.
The good thing: it can be tricked into working with fake images and/or by disconnecting the real drives.
Requirement for King Kong is just Daemon Tools 4.0 (I'm saying this from a educational p.o.v.) and a mdf/mds image of the game.
