My laptops now have around 15000 hours running folding. The first an TL52 laptop was hit hit by a truck this damaged the fan so I ran it hot that eventually killed the graphics processor. The second a M320 based laptop had a disc break after I dropped it it has been converted to linux. The current one a P520 is still going strong. These laptops have been running folding 10 hours a day since 2006 without a processor failure.

That's pretty decent for a laptop, given that they run pretty hot under much of a CPU load. Folding 15000 hours with a tower-style desktop is pretty easy as they are fairly well cooled and can handle being run at full load 24/7 for extended periods of time. I got somewhere around 40,000 hours out of my old X2 4200+ machine before its motherboard croaked. Folding on a server like my dual Opteron 6128 setup is a cinch as they are *designed* for that sort of use. It's been running just shy of 9000 hours thus far and is barely broken in It's amazing how well a server with error-correcting memory and Linux will just keep on running and running and running.
