I have read that the FX55 will be better at gaming than the yet to be released dual cores. I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge if that also pertains to folding proteins?
Does anyone have an idea which is faster? Speculation is welcome!
FX55 or Dual Core 4800?
(Additional info: The protein folding routine over at World Community Grid is called the 'Human Proteome Folding Project'. The client executes a program called 'Rosetta' that evaluates the work unit. The Hidden Markov Model and the Smith Waterman algorithms both apply to this analysis)
Thanks for any info. AMD Administrators are welcome to share any info they might have.
My impression is that dual core 4800 would be much faster as the analysis is deep with similar if not identical tasks. Am considering purchase once info is obtained.
