This is just an attempt to make a database so that we can try to find out which units are problem ones.

Please list the particular unit that failed and how far it progressed, its run, clone, and gen and whether, and how much, you are overclocked.

You can also insert a partial log if you like in the code brackets.

CODE
[06:08:51] Project: 3038 (Run 6, Clone 241, Gen 1)
[13:49:29] Completed 1200000 out of 5000000 steps  (24)
[14:02:11] Quit 101 - Fatal error: NaN detected: (ener[13])
[14:02:11]
[14:02:11] Simulation instability has been encountered. The run has entered a
[14:02:11]   state from which no further progress can be made.
[14:02:11] This may be the correct result of the simulation, however if you
[14:02:11]   often see other project units terminating early like this
[14:02:11]   too, you may wish to check the stability of your computer (issues
[14:02:11]   such as high temperature, overclocking, etc.).
[14:02:11] Going to send back what have done.
[14:02:11] logfile size: 37855
[14:02:11] - Writing 38418 bytes of core data to disk...
[14:02:11]   ... Done.
[14:02:11]
[14:02:11] Folding@home Core Shutdown: EARLY_UNIT_END
[14:02:14] CoreStatus = 72 (114)
[14:02:14] Sending work to server

On a totally stock X2 4800+

Is no one else having problems with these?

I'm on my 5th yes 5th in a row of these 3038's. Not one single problem. I've played games, surfed the net, downloaded stuff, rip cd's, xtc and not one problem. Only 4 points, now thats a [content edited] /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="h34r:" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

Well I've finished 21 of these altogether and 17 p3039's and only had problems with 2 out of those.Totally stock system here aswell. /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

4 points is bad,I would have expected nearer 90 for over half a p3038.

I've had 3 or 4 eue's this month. All are supervillins and all are running the text version. The console version seems to be doing fine. I don't know how many I've completed this month. It must average 3 a day or so. I really haven't kept track.

I turned in another eue yesterday. A 62 pointer. I had another that just disappeared along with a completed work unit worth 186 points.

If your going to report a dud here guys please include the work unit number, run, gen and clone. This was originally intended to be about which units were unstable not your machines spitting them out early.

I predict I'll get 6 points for this.

Uncle Fergus told me that this is caused by the detection mechanism in the core not recognising when the unit has reached an unstable state so it just carries on until it does recognise something. So maybe it errors on frame 2,4,8 or whatever but doesn't get detected as bad there and then.

Ah well,at least I don't have anymore 3038's in the pipe for now.

I have a bunch of 2484s that have been giving me trouble on my Duron 1600 machine. I have no clue why, but anything with core 78 or a0 seems to not want to play nice with it. I ran Memtest86+ for hours and hours and no errors, plus did what the guys on the FAH forum suggested and ran StressCPU v2 for about four days and nary an error. Yet the machine still EUEs on all 2484s and some a0 core WUs. Perhaps the new WUs don't agree with the Duron for some reason?
