Do I read the the stats wrongly or is our team dropping out of the top 100 within three weeks?

I had to scale down due to being out of town, too hot and the past year electricity bill came. A neat graph was included showing the power consumption...

btw.. seems ibe been nonfolding for a few days?

Yep, looks like 3.1 weeks, it'll be a sad day. We've sort of held our own against the bigger teams till a while ago. I remember the days when I started folding and Ardrid was number 620 in the world in the folding ranks. I'm still fighting to get into the top 2000 here.

after 3 weeks of trying to get everything full speed, I finally think I managed to turn a full 20k week this week...

but there are too many threats and not enough conquests on the list for our team, we are slipping down the line...
I really don't care, points are points, they all go toward the same cause.
I guess all those new quads put a hurtin' on us...

conquests- http://folding.extremeovercloc...ertake.php?s=&t=34106

threats- http://folding.extremeovercloc...ke.php?s=&t=34106&p=2

D&D Minions / MySaoirse / TeamUbuntu / MaysTAMU
have the pedal to the medal, they'll be sailing by in the passing lane soon...

well i am gonna have to say, I was catching some of the older guys and not worried about my back, now I have a new threat on our team, B12.....

What kinda vitamins you taking back there???

you are coming on fast..... but who better to get passed by that a fellow teammate!

I love this, but sometime I miss the "trash talk" of the old days with the "pirate fleet"

OCN a.k.a. the pirate fleet!

it was all in good fun! It made life less mundane.

soon I will hit 100k, another 10 times over and I will be in KC's league!

MikeB12, with your help and others, we have managed to postpone the drop out of top100 a while longer, that is good. Impressive folding there! I have now been folding for close to a year, 24/7, except for a few days. Its been fun to give my machines a real hammering

We'll be back in the game when phenom comes around, maybe some of the new phenom or barcelona forum members will join up... I gotta say I was tempted to buy a q6600 a while back, but glad I saved my money... I just started with a new comp this year after having a sempron barton for the last 2... so realistically, need to wait for another comp build untill end of next year at the minimum.

but with the smp client going live this year and it looks like a bunch of new teams turning in good folds, maybe stanford will experience an acceleration in their projects...
I really do believe in the cause... my 83 yo gran has Alzheimer's, and I've spent around 1 yr hospital time in the past 3 years before my kidney/liver transplant last april... even though the transplant isn't related to the projects, it still hits home what a gift it is to be healthy and able to function in life... if by some means our unused processing time can help develope some drug or treatment that helps prevent, cure, or enhance one of the disease victim's lives; than I'm all for it...

my pleasure....

going to the computer store tomorrow, maybe I can add a little more time before you pass me!

I believe in the science as well, being a researcher myself, albeit in the pigments field, I have a full appreciation for what we are doing. Today we have WAY more cpu that the average desktop user needs, most of the time those cycles are wasted, this project lets us help others and put our $$$ to good use.

one of the best charitable donations I can think of, donation of our time, efforts and hard earned $$$ both in utility bills and hardware costs. This stuff isn't free, but the time we give and the results that may be achieved are priceless!

Rock on Team!

Mike, what is this " smp client going live this year " mean? Is Stanford going to take this out of beta?

dunno, I thought it just came into the picture this year... That would be a good question for the smp fah forum..... if they have an answer...
first couple days I experimented with folding, I ran the regular client, then when I got the smp going-the reg client felt like a slow poking dinosaur...
I was reading some of those quads were turning 8-10 min frames for 1760 point wu... at that rate, those guys are turning almost 2 wu's a day per pc. wow!

Fasson at fah forum posted this at the end of Aug. concerning smp...

The expiration date is Oct 1 or Oct 2 (depends on the precise client platform). We will release updated clients before that date.

so I guess we'll get a new beta in a week or so...

i had a few issues with the smp client when i tried it so i went back to the gpu/cpu clients.
once the smp client comes out of beta i might try it again. ill probably have a play with the next beta release tbh.

right now im not fussed as im turning in decent points with the gpu clients

well this is it guys... its downhill from here. we are out of the top 100 and destined to slide another 4 places in the space of a month unless we manage to double our output somehow...

yeah, quite a few new teams currently down the list, but are turning big points. especially the ps3 teams..

and look at this mover.. http://folding.extremeovercloc...ummary.php?s=&t=75255
xcpus.com team... only been active since June 07, currently like place 193..
but look at this production ramp:

You would think that with all the people on these message boards that somehow we could get another 100 people to start folding for the team. Any ideas on how to do this?

I wish the instructions for the clients were better at fah. I've had several people email me when they saw my sig, and all have had problems getting the client to work. we all know it's a booger to get smp working when you first look at it from fah's faq's. Alot of skipping around pages, visiting the forum and reading threads about log errors, reading wiki, trial and error, losing wu's, etc... it would be nice if it was a simple setup.exe type install and no ongoing issues. I mean at first points once I got it going it was fine, but I probably had 10 days worth of issues before I got the hang of it and started being able to turn wu's back to back with no issues. I think the initial process kinda deters some before they even get going, even if interest is there to begin with.

That's the main reason I posted the guide.. trying to help a forum member who showed interest in a PM to fold.. but after several attempts appears the client is still crashing, so they had to put it down for awhile. It's frustrating to put effort into helping a cause, then find out the back end of it is kinda buggy.

but to answer your ques. that's one of the reasons I have my sig in place-publicity...
and if you look at the list we do have one new user. 273 total 29 active

It looks like we may jump back into the top 100 in about a week.
It won't last long though if we do.
Maybe a day, maybe less.
