I am overclocking for my first time ever. Now all I want is a 200-300mhz oc on my 3800+, 200mhz will suffice but I cant reach it ugg.
System Specs: x2 3800+ GA-K8NF-9 1gb (2x512) OCZ Value 2.5-4-4-8
Now I know my ram is poor but yeah I will explain the story. I put my HTT multiplier down to 3x and my cpu multi down to 9x to find the max of my ram. Now I upped my htt to 215 and it booted. Then I tried upping to 220 and it wont /sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' />. I know its my ram but I need to know if there is anyway I can get a 200mhz oc without using a divider because at that low I would be losing alot of performance with a divider. Also I had upped the vdimm to .1
I can't afford good ram at the moment, just wanted to get 4200 speeds on my x2 and then get new ram in january and get to 2.5ghz. Any and all tips are appreciated.

Using a divider won't hurt your performance provided you can overclock to a point where your memory frequency is back at 200MHz. For your processor at the stock multiplier with the 5/6 (333MHz) divider, you have to hit 240MHz HTT (2.4GHz).
2000/166.66666=12
12*200=2400MHz
This is easily achieveable on most motherboards in existance and shouldn't require excessive amounts of voltage while providing plenty of HTT bandwidth (4*240 vs. 5*200 stock). If you'd rather stick close to your stock speed:
9*240MHz HTT=2160MHz
1800/166.66666=10.8
10.8*200=2160MHz
If you're still looking to overclock your RAM, using the stock multiplier and a HTT frequency of 250MHz would yield a memory clock of 208MHz:
10*250=2500MHz
2500MHz/12=208.333MHz
Or, using a multiplier of 9:
9*250=2250MHz
2250MHz/10.8=208.333MHz
Another way to achieve stock speed:
8*250=2000MHz
1600/166.66666=9.6
2000MHz/9.6=208.333MHz
Any of these with a HTT multiplier of 4x should be achieveable on your system.
