I have just purchased an A64 FX-55 processor for the home computer I am building. This is the first time I have built a computer so I am learing as I go. I noticed on the AMD web site there is a "AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor Driver for Windows XP, Version (exe) 1.1.0.18". Is this something I need to install on my system? What does it do? Will my computer work without it? If I do need it which version do I install the exe or the zip?
And do I also need to download and install the "AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor Cool'n'Quiet Software for Windows ME and Windows 2000, Version 1.0.1.7"?
The parts for my computer are:
Asus A8V-E Deluxe Asus Extreme AX800XT Platinum Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Seagate 120Gb SATA Windows XP Home
If you install that driver ( i used the exe. myself, but it's your choice if you want the extra step, get the zip. file) it has/is the Cool 'N' Qiuet driver. It's the latest one so you may as well install it.
