That motherboard isn't an Athlon64 motherboard. It's for an AthlonXP/sempron. Is your processor a 939pin or 754pin?

Either way, I would go to S939. You would have to get a 3000+, but the S939's have a built in memory contoller on the chip or something like that. A good board would be the Asus AV8, or if you can afford it, the Asus A8N. Other good ones are the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and Abit A8V third eye. All S939 boards. If you must stick with S754's, the Asus K8N-E is a good one.

-------------------------
Motherboard: Asus M2N-E
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 6400+
RAM: 2x OCZ2P8002GK
Graphics Card: BFG GTX 260 OC 896MB
Hard Drive: Seagate 1TB SATAII
Optical Drive: LG GSA-H62l
Power Supply: Tagan TG700-U88 BZ
Case: Antec Nine Hundred
Operating System: Windows Vista Business 64
