I plan on building a new gaming machine in a month maybe. I will be doing some overclocking, but which would be better? I know the San Diego has more L2 Cache, but the 3800+ Venice is also a 2.4Ghz processor while the 3700+ San Diego is only 2.2Ghz. It probably wouldn't make a whole lot of difference, but which would be faster for gaming?

3800+ would be faster for gaming, the bigger L2 cache doesn't make as much of a difference as 200mghz does (gaming wise).

from what i know, the venice with this stepping, CBBLE, 0507DPAW, will give you the best results. lots of people have great results oc'ing it as well with low voltage and low heat. it will more than make up for the lower L2 cache.

Alright, sweet thanks, I was planning on going with the 3800+, but wasn't exactly for sure if it was better. Thanks!

After wrestling with these 2 choices, I decided to go with the 3700 San Diego. I figure I can overclock the 3700 to get up to 3800, but there's no way I can get the 3800 512 L2 to go to 1MB L2

Regards, Ron
