Does anybody know a way to remove the heatsink from an Athlon64 3000+ without damaging the cpu. Somewhere i read that if you run the system for a while the heat will cause the paste to melt and so you can then remove the heatsink, but this does not help when the system is damaged, say the motherboard as failed. How then do you save the CPU because these large heat spreaders cause the CPU to fasten tightley to the heatsink. I think AMD and INTEL should replace CPU's damaged in this way because there are no warnings that its going to happen and its there design flaws which are causing it to happen. Anyone got any idea's?
