I was just wondering if someone could fill in some details and explain the pro's and con's of overclocking with the use of Cool N' Quiet. I've looked at countless other forums and googled "Overclocking and Cool N' Quiet" and haven't found anything substantially informative.
At the moment, I understand that Cool N' Quiet allows my AMD 64 3500+ to lower it's speed when not needed, thus lowering the cpu's temperature overall. However, I was wondering if the CPU's life would be adversely affected if I were to overclock the cpu by 5-10% and use Cool N' Quiet at the same time.
My overall goal is to add a little more speed while maintaning an acceptable temperature to sustain the cpu's life for the long run.
And also out of curiosity, what is the acceptable range of operating temperatures for an AMD 64 3500+?
My setup is as follows:
AMD 64 3500+ Asus A8V Deluxe Allied 500W PSU ATX 2 x 512 Kingston HyperX PC3200 DDR Thermaltake Venus 12 heatsink & fan Asus 6800GT SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Maxtor 80 Gig SATA Western Digital 160 Gig SATA LITEON DL DVD-RW NEC DVD-ROM Thermaltake Soprano Case w/ all the fans
