I am thinking about putting together a desktop system using the 64FX-51. I am considering buying the OEM processor, but what like to know EXACTLY what kind of heatsink/fan I would need. If I had a few namebrands to choose from, that would be great; something I could just order with the processor and be sure I was getting exactly what I needed.

I am also curious as to exactly what namebrands and type of memory I should be looking for? Any advice in this direction would be very helpful.

Thirdly, when can I expect more motherboards to be available? Right now, there are only two to choose from, and the one based on the Nvidia chipset has problems, so I hear. And I still have a bad taste about VIA in my mouth from my last two VIA motherboards that always had a problem. How soon will there be another option, and by what manufacturer?

Right now, the only thing holding up my purchase is waiting to see what other motherboard options become available. If anyone can help with any of this, it would be great!!

Here's a link to AMD's web regarding recommended heatsink/fans:

Memory:

Motherboards:

Asus - SK8N
Gigabyte - GA-K8NNXP-940
MSI - K8T Master1 (Via K8T800 chipset?)

I know the SK8N board is readily available. I'm sure the others are quickly on their way if they aren't available yet.

Mobo: ASUS K8V Deluxe (if ur not a heavy o/cer)

RAM: the new XMS registered stuff

HSF: Zalman

VIA seems to have got it's act together this time, apart from still not having a PCI/AGP lock!

I don't think the K8V Deluxe supports the Athlon FX.

Asus has recommended memory for the SK8N board. Look at the bottom of this page:
