I have a standard Acer Aspire T-130 (Athlon XP 3200, 512MB DDR PC2700, 160GB SATA, Phoenix BIOS RO1-A4, SMBIOS v2.3) running Windows 64-bit SP1 v1069.
The objective is to maximize performance for financial "heavy lifting" (running OX in 32-bit and 64-bit mode for convergence analysis.) The 32-bit OX process takes 4 hours + under Pentium 4 3GHz machine, 3h:15m under Acer and 64-bit, so there is already a performance gain. (During this process, processor(s) run at nearly 100% all the time.)
However, I would like to determine whether there are any specific optimisations I should be setting in BIOS or elsewhere to get best performance out of the Acer under Win-64, even in its current Beta form.
These processes could eventually move to a 2-Opteron based server, so this is an experimental/learning process.
