I'm having a hard time finding a heatsink for my 64fx (oem). I bought the only one on newegg's site that was specifically listed as supporting socket 940, but I am concerned about installing it. The clip is bent too much and it will take WAY too much force to get it in place (and yes i have the lever open) Anyway, after seeing this problem, I think I would just rather get a better quality heatsink anyway. Does anyone know of a website that has reviewed amd64/opteron heatsinks?
One more question: is the mounting bracket the same for socket 754 and socket 940? Can one use a heatsink listed for an Athlon64 on an opteron?

thanks for the quick replies. Dave, do you know if the heat sink brackets are the same for both sockets? The pages dont really make that clear.
(The model I am having trouble with was on the list, I guess I got a bad one)

All the mountings for both sockets should be the same. Most vendor's SHOULD include the backplate and bracket if the mobo vendor didn't. FoxConn includes it (i believe), Ajijo doesn't (you have to specially request it), and I think thermaltake does. My heatsinks should be arriving this week... cheers, dave
