Hey guys,

im new to this forum and I wanted to upgrade my pc then overclock it. Currently i have the MSI K8N Neo Platinum (MS-7030) Motherboard

with a AMD 3000+. Im planning to upgrade to a 3400+ and buy some high performance memory. I can go up to 2gb of memory. At this point i know that i have to get an aftermarket fan for the cpu. I need some guidance on what type of fan and type of memory i should get. I leaning towards the Crosair brand. any specific specs i should be looking for with the memory or the fan?

You'd be better off just sticking with your 3000. I have yet to see a 3400 that overclocks by more than 200mhz over stock without raising the vcore to 1.6v.

Hope all this helps.

Also, the lower the stock multiplier, the better potential the CPU in question typically has. Since you have a 3000 with a stock multiplier of 9x, that looks much better than a 3400 with a stock multiplier of 11x... Just some food for thought.
