Hey I like these AMD forums. Very clean. So jason, you're more interested in finding little green men than curing human diseases? ..... Well how does the A64 handle it? I've wondered just how fast those chips go through work units.

Wow, there goes your warranty... I wonder what adhesive was used to attach the HSpreader in the first place? cheers, dave

it is like a soft black silicon. i did notice a little corner chips after the removal of the block later on, so maybe a bit on the fragile side. I wonder if Fx is similar under there.

hi guys, do you think we will see an athlon 64 3ghz chip before spring, or one that will overclock to 3 ghz on air that will be stable. i know they have overclocked to 3 ghz with extreme cooling. these chips look like they are going to scale very well.

the only stuff i can tell you is that i believe another speed grade of the AThlon64 3x00+ will be released by the end of Q4 and that there MAY be another speed grade introduced by the beginning of Q2, 2004...that's just being conservative (especially regarding next year)... cheers, dave

Well, AMD has usually been awesome with revisions/new steppings on CPU's. Just look at the difference between a DLT3C and DUT3C. Anyways, I am thinking the same thing. I initially thought these chips would not scale or OC that well, but AMD really surprised me with this chip. Anyways, I doubt this guy is worried about his warranty.

considering it's only the first generation of the new CPU, the oc result is pretty impressive. I can't really remember how well P4 overclocks when it first came out bundled with RDRAM, but don't think it's impressive at all.

P4 Willys could O/C, not like this though. But there's one big difference. P4 Willys really, really [insert negative performing term here]. A64/FX are awesome!
