the driver isn't in the startup section, well shouldn't be anyway

there wasn't a whole lot of difference though but maybe it's enough of a difference to prove that DCO does more than synching timestamps.

Is what I found interesting was that the systems over all load went up that much. I also noticed that load time was a good 10 sec longer with out the optimization or optimizer.

That was enough to sell me right there.

the same section for 2 min was tested in farcry2 in each test. they where the same all the way as for what was tested.

In truth I knew there was a difference but the load was not expected.

Some offical information AMD:

QUOTE

Drivers

There are no drivers needed or available for any of our processors. Your operating system might need drivers to correctly identify the processor, however, those drivers are part of the operating system and install automatically with the installation of the operating system itself.;amp;#160; AMD provides drivers for specific functions of the processor, like Cool ;amp;#8216;n;amp;#8217; Quiet Technology features. These drivers along with other AMD utilities can be found here:
<link>

Well once again folks, no mentioning of anything BUT cool & quiet, no "needed for optimal performance" etc etc.

adamf: did you make multiple tests to verify those numbers? It's just all weird to me why AMD wouldn't mention this ANYWHERE.

this wasn't for drivers guy. this was for optimizer and optimization only

drivers are built into vista and there are no other drivers for vista. So I can NOT test otherwise for drivers.

newer

try to keep in mind guy xp is a very OLD OS and even SP2 came before dual cores hit the market. XP was never made to run dual core CPU,s it required drivers to be released for it. Vista came at the dawn of quad core CPU,s so its support was built in.

Once again, where's all "the other stuff"?

What?

I thought we where talking drivers not optimizer.

the optimizer is the newest one and was never built into vista

so what in gods name are we talking about drivers or optimizer? there not the same thing.

LOL both?? read the topic "driver + dual core optimizer"
I jush chimed in with some information on the DCO in the middle of it all.
So your results above where the result of the driver rather then dco?

LOL LOL

OMG man.

The results are a test of DCO and threaded optimization and had nothing to do with drivers. I CAN NOT test the driver it is made for xp and xp x64. I run vista and my driver was built in.

some one else will have to test driver and DCO defectiveness on xp and xp x64.

Once again there is no need for the driver in vista.. But the tests show VERY VERY VERY clearly the DCO is needed in vista. So it the need to enable multi threading optimization in video drivers.

Ok I give up and just install the darn things and stop bugging you already

I had too many forums open there, didn't read things right at first. I get it now

lol

I already knew you where reading between the lines and not all of the context had been read threw and threw.

remember if you run nvidia GPU to NOT use auto on threading optimization but ON option. From the tests the auto option isn't selecting on by auto.

Hmm - now that it's been mentioned I wonder if Vista's native support for dual core could be improved with the DCO on Socket 939s as well.

In addition, I wonder if ATI cards have their own optimizations in the Catalysts that would improve gaming performance?

Hi, Ive noticed a slower performance issue with cool n quite and was looking at whether it really needs to be installed to get the "wanted" tools out of the driver. Heres an interesting article if your interested in checking it out.

I noticed some performance issues in gaming while Cool & Quiet is enabled.
I believe it has to do with the driver throttling the Vcore voltage and frequencies.
What I do, I run C&Q for daily tasks (like web surfing), but disable it when gaming.

Anyone know why the optimizer is missing from the download page right now?
