well, i have an Acer Laptop (Extensa 4420-5963) and i have had windows XP and Windows Vista and the card worked well on both systems. Now i installed the beta of Windows 7. and everything is OK but the Graphics adapter, it doesnt detect the card as the Radeon X1250 so it doesnt let me install the drivers, when i look on everest, it shows the card is 16MB ati (i dont remember the number here something that begined with a G or 6).

I have the same problem on a Toshiba satellite, running Win 7 build 7100. I didn't have the problem running build 7000.

used the xp driver, worked like a charm as far as rebooting after gettin 7100 to recognize the hardware.

installed the driver package via ati's installer, opened control panel/device manager, display device, properties...
have disk, navigate to driver location (c:/ati/support/9-1_xp32.../driver/driver/cx_74230.inf) selected inf, and viola! recognized and installed driver, rebooted, and screen is normal res (1280x800). no aero vis (no see through windows) but seems to be working ok. give it a shot and lemme know if this helps =)

p.s. joined site just to post this in hopes that it'll help. as for the acer comment, this laptop works better than any hp or toshiba lappy that i've owned, which is quite a few.
please keep the negative comments about other peoples rigs to yourself.

update: crashed when trying out 3d screen savers (ribbons/bubbles). so wont be good for 3d apps it looks like.
