Answer:
Go to HP's site and have a look at you PC's specifications table. It should tell you what brand and model your chipset is (not the processor). It can be Nvidia, AMD, maybe VIA. That information could also be available from the chipset driver's file name downloadable there.

Once you know that, go the chipset's manufacturer's site and download the latest XP drivers for your model.

Hello everybody!

I'm new to this forum and not exactly a novice with computer. Hope someone can help me with my problem. I have a desktop computer, with AMD Athlon (tm) 64X2 Dual with Core Processor 4800+, 2.50 Ghz, 896 Mo de RAM.

Let me explain my problem, I formatted my computer and installed Windows XP. I had Windows Vista Family Premium Edition and didn't like it much. Since I use this computer for office only, I think Windows XP Pro would be better. But installing Windows XP on my computer wasn't the right thing to do because I don't have the drivers for my system. They came with Vista but they were lost when moving to my new office. Now I need to get drivers that will work with Windows XP. I can't even get online the computer doesn't recognize my Wireless LAN connexion. I have an antenna in the back for wireless connexion. The computer, I mean Windows I guess doesn't recognize most of my hardward. Is there anything to do, are there some drivers for Windows XP.

Thanks for helping if it's possible

Hi Guylaine . Go to your mother boards manufactures web site and down load all the drivers for it . If you purchased the computer as a whole then go to your computers manufactures web site look up your computer and dl load all drivers there . Install them all and you should be good to go to boot into your new windows and get on line .

Your motherboard is most likely a custom build for HP and therefore probably not listed on ASUS website. Best bet is to download the drivers from HP website.

FYI 411 for driver hunting and switching of none supported OS.

Using Everest ultimate/devices/windows devices you can look for the name and hardware code for each device needing drivers.

Then bring up google home page and type in the keywords of the device name or hardware code ending with "driver download" with out the quotes.

Its how we take a vista designed PC and force xp to work with it.

I found a site that say how to past from Windows Vista to Windows XP with the my HP computer. They say that first I must find a driver for the chipset compatible with Windows XP. Not sure where to go to find this. The processor is a ADM Athlon 64 X2 Dual (Core processor 4800+). Need some help to find the driver.

Thank you for your help it's really appreciated!

Hi Guylaine . Its very easy . Down load all drivers for your mother board . The down load site will ask you what operating system you want . Once you take care of that get on line and down load any other drivers you may need for your other components . The guys have given you a couple of options to get your mother boards drivers .

Hello !

I downloaded the program Everest Ultimate as suggested by PC-GURU. Thanks alot great program. I can see everything about my components in the report. I'll be trying a little later to get the drivers. In the report they give me the address of the site to go. Really cool and hope this will work. Thank you all for your help, I'll keep you posted.
