Hey guys,
I just switch from xp to Vista home premium. I have a Athlon 64x2 5600 Brisbane with 3gigs of 6700 ram, a 750 gig hard drive and a 4830 Sapphire Radeon video card, and a Hauppauge HVR-1600 tv turner, and a Thermaltake 680 watt power supply.
I have a couple of questions about making the switch. Should I install the Optimizer on vista also, and what power settings should I use in Vista ? I'd appreciate any other info that anybody might think I need to know.
I waited this long to switch over to Vista because I wanted to wait until I thought they had " most " of the bugs worked out. I know that 7 is coming out soon, but I had some issues with the old XP and was going to do a reinstall anyway and happened up on a great buy on this Vista Home premium with service pack 1.
Thanks for any help you can give !

Vista has the "optimizer" built in the operating system, so you don't need it.
If you want Cool & Quiet features, set it to "Balanced" under Power Options in the Control Panel.
This of course is assuming that C&Q is enabled in the bios.
Btw, where did you get the "great buy" on Vista Home Premium?

One of my cousins bought it a couple of weeks ago to upgrade his computer. I believe he paid around $139 for it. Before he did the upgrade though, his wife surprised him with a new computer for his birthday. He ask me if I wanted to buy the vista upgrade from him for $50, so I jumped on it. I also bought a video card from him that had not been in his computer for more than 2 weeks for $40. ( the sapphire I have listed )
He sold the old computer to another friend of ours for their young daughter. He couldn't take the Vista back to the store because he had opened it, but he had not installed it.
Good deal for me.......
I have to say that so far, I like Vista home premium.
