I've had the L1N64 board with two FX-74's for a while now. I only recently decided to go into the BIOS and see what the temperature was. The first CPU was at 55C and the second was 72C. Not sure why there is such a difference or why they are even that high. They are using the stock AMD heatsink/fan which seems fine to me. I bought some thermal paste and went through that whole process to end up with the same result.

I doubt it, but is this normal temperature? I suspect my machine has been like this since day one. It had never occurred to me before. All of this is in a XClio A380 case with a huge 36cm fan on the side. I am also running two nVidia GeForce 9600 GTs with SLI.

Any thoughts?

Well, I think I'm going to try swapping my CPUs with each other and see if it yields the same result since no one else seems to have this issue.

72 C should cause the machine to shut down if your CPUs are in fact getting that hot. 55 C full-load sounds about right, but 72 C is way too high. What happens if you leave the side of the case off and point a box fan into the case?

I agree that it should cause the machine to shut down. Maybe it was reading it incorrectly, but I really doubt it. I did fail to mention that my 36cm fan was broken and I just got another one. I checked the temperatures and it is sticking around 55C. Hopefully it was just an anomaly.
