Hello, i am currently reading up as much information as i can to learn about my desktop so i can upgrade etc myself.

I have a Compaq Presario.
Motherboard Details:
ASUS A8M2N-LA
HP Compaq Name: NodusM3-GL8E

CPU/Processor:
Socket AM2
Supports:
AMD Athlon 64
Athlon 64 X2 up to 5000+
AMD Sempron

These details i got from HP Support which is all available online.

The current problem i have is my mobo buggered itself 2 weeks ago, i ordered another one, which took a bit of stuffing around as it's a manufactured comp.
Now i took my mobo and tower to local computer repairs, who are a bunch of idiots. I also purchased a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6Ghz chip, cos i though why not upgrade while it's being repaired. The Chip I received seems to be a bit different (a newer revised version??) Athlon 64 X2 5000 2.2GHz
I took it to comp shop and they tried it and not compatible!?!!?

So i need some help as too why? The online shop i bought chip from said AMD only make one 64 X2 5000+ chip and i have it.

Any help from the fine posters on here with they're wealth of knowledge would be greatly appreciated

I had to do a bit of digging but found the chip i bought on AMD here: http://products.amd.com/en-us/...9=&f10=False&f11=&f12=

Looks like it is not compatible, it is a 45nm part, AM2+ compatible.
