I'm having troubles with my 64 fx-51 based computer, crashes keep wiping out my raid array. One tech from abs said it was running too hot, but when thier attempt to impeove the sitation by replacing the heat sink/cpu fan resulted in even higher cpu temperatures (and another raid array wipe out), they said it was actually within the acceptable range. I think I'm getting a runaround and I need to know the truth about what range of temperatures is considered acceptable. Any hel will be greatly appreciated, this has been dragging on for weeks.

Well I believe the max you wish to see yourp processor hit is around 70 -75 *C. What temps are you running right now?


If your temps are too high you will notice random reboots usually, or just some weird junk.

It was running at only 51 C when I had my latest crash, but no programs were running at the time. I am getting frequent blue screens, followed by reboots, eventually these reboots fail after wiping out my raid array. (3 raid array falures in the past month). I'm not sure how high it gets when I'm running games (which is often). I ony discovered the bios page for minitoring temperature last week.

51C is not hot enough to cause problems. What PSU are you using, and what are the amps on the 12V rail? Also, try running memtest86, a link is in my sig.
