Have got a athlon 64 x2 3800 and before i start anything i would like to know if i need to connect the ATX12v four pin connector to the Abit UL8 mother board?

I think i do need to do this for the CPU requires extra juice.

Now i have not seen this information anywhere about having to do this, have looked through the manual for both Abit's UL8 and the AMD booklet, can't see it?

YES! period...you must connect the 4-pin 12v connector, if you motherboard has one, and since yours has one, it has to have power.

Yes you should... I know it doesnt specifically say to connect both conectors but on page 2-6 (section 2-4) it shows both.

Thankyou, have bluit a P4 system and knew the CPU needed the ATX12v, just wanting to make sure that was the case for the athlon. /blush.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blush.gif' />
