I have an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe with AMD Athlon 64 bit processor, 512MB PC3200 DDR, 160 WD SATA, Sapphire 9600 Pro, Best 500 w power supply.
I am not having fun so far with this new system. I"ve updated my bios to 1007.002. The next version of the bios is a beta 1008.002 which I may try but I'm not convinced that's the answer yet.
I've reloaded Windows in the order suggested (pretty much standard for clean install) on the VIA arena website, rebooting after each install.
I am getting random crashes in IE6 (I realize that's not everyone's favorite, but we're a gaming family so we're stuck with it). I've got everything up to date, drivers, software etc. They seem to be related to Macromedia Flash Player. I"ve dispensed with it for now, but I've tried both Flash Player 7 and the new beta 8 with the same net result. When I checked out Macromedia's site and emailed tech support the reply was that Flash Player does not support 64 bit at this time.
Anybody else experience this? And if so does your experience indicate a clash between Flash player and 64 bit?

Are you using 64 bit windows? That ships with 2 vers of IE. use the 32bit vers and flash will run ok. If your not using 64 bit windows e.g. windows xp home, then I would reinststall as an upgrade not a fresh and re-update all your drivers. Do you get a stop error? Check in the event log (control panel, admin, event, system)
