QUOTE(rc_arindom2003 @ Jun 19 2005, 04:07 PM)Hello /laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /> Dear All,
Well i just want to know which one is a better or we can say a more powerful processor. A Pentium 2.8 GHZ or a AMD Athlon 64 2800+ processor. Well to me all the test i have performed in my 2005 NORTON Performance tests, the results are shocking. Can you verify me. Right now i have a AMD Athlon 64 2800+ proccesor, but i think it would have been better if had one P 4 one.
Well thanks and LOL.

Now there's a strange question to ask on a AMD support forum. /ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' />
But anyway... first and foremost, you're equating a 2.8Ghz Pentium with a 2.0Ghz Athlon 64. The "2800+" is merely the model number.
But speed isn't everything. A lot depends on the L1 and L2 cache and the way the CPU performs with the software. But let's not make it too complicated. Instead I'll refer you to
this' ">http://www.firingsquad.com/har...f_life_2_cpu_shootout/ review where you can compare how all 17 Athlons performed when compared to the fastest Pentiums. Now you'd think that the top model Athlon 64 FX-55 running at 2.6Ghz would be considerably slower than a Pentium 3.46Ghz wouldn't you? After all, the FX-55 is almost a whole Gigahertz slower isn't it? But the poor old Pentium is left standing as you can see
