Look in your mobo manual, and whichever is the 1st set of slots in the manual. Usually DIMM 0 and DIMM 2.

Edit: It doesn't matter if you use the orange or yellow slots, either will work fine. I would use the orangeslots because they are the first set of slots.

They don't do different things, they are just color coded so you know which is the same set of channels. One is Channel A and one is Channel B of the same color, so DDR will work.

they say yellow for higher voltages and UTT ram so i think ill do that

but others say the factory shipped bios do not allow yellow slots to work i find this hard to believe

i have to uplift the heatsink to change slots so this is pretty important

I read it over on DFI Street, you have to remember I spent a week on those forums with my DFI board. I read that the yellow slots give you better performance up to 250 but go to orange beyond that for stability.

well then do as everyone else does, and use the old principal of trial and error. u wont let anyone tell u differently then wat u already believe, which is the whole point of u posting here, so y dont u just try it the way u think its supposed to go. if u cant OC, its ur fault.

Tha manual is wrong orange slots are channel A and yellow slots are channel B If you place one in yellow and one on orange you will run in 64bit if you want 128bit dual channel use the same colored slots. How do I know been there done that got the t-shirt.

Yes its safet to run it oustside the case what do ya think a test bench is.
