More and more boards have the CPU retention bracket backplate taped onto the motherboard. And on a Zalman 7000a , you have to use the Zalman backplate (as the screw holes arent the same hieght for CPU contact).
How do you remove stock AMD64 backplates that are double sided taped onto the motherboard? Any tricks? Wrestle with it until something breaks?
Another good technique (after you heat it thoughly) is to peel off from one corner. Try your hardest (without too much force, or something will break) to get one corner off. When that corner starts to come off, the rest of the plate should gradually stsrt to peel off, making the rest of the plate easier to come off. When you are peeling off (make sure you do it slowly) make sure the glue is still a little warm. If it cools down, don't continue to try and take it out, you can break something on the board. So heat it up again, and continue these steps until it has compleltely come off.
