I bought a new ABIT AV8 Mobo and a AMD 3400+.
Are s740 and s940 compatible to s939 when it comes to cpu fan kits? I mean if I install a s740 cpu fan will it work on a s939 cpu? Some web sites (mainly tigerdirect) say it will. They list it as AMD64 s740, s939 and s940 compatible. But when I look in AMD.com technical support and in the Abit manual I read that I can only install a s939 cpu fan. So can anyone just give me a name and model of a good cpu fan (not too expensive, actually under $49 if possible) that will fit right in with my ABit s939 mobo. A direct link to the item or web site that sells it would really help - if it's not too much to ask and you have it handy otherwise I will google it.

Any other pointers are greatly appreciated regarding good cpu fan knowledge.

HSF kits are usually sold as K8 kits for AMD 64.

As long as you're not running an FX-55, most HSF kits will work fine under the K8 heading.
