I doubt is it caused by the CPU. The memory frequency will decrease to DDR333 when I install 4 DDR400 memory. When I install 2 DDR400 memory, it is normal and is used frequency 400.

My specification:
CPU: Althon 64 X2 3800+
MB: ASUS A8N-VM CSM (BIOS ver. 0702)
Memory: Corsair DDR 400 (VS1GBKIT400)

"My friend, you mean it still occur 333MHz on POST after setting in bios? For your problem , because AMD K8 serial memory controller was inclued in CPU , So the memory compatiblity and memory controller problem depend on the CPU and no much relation with the motherboard . you could contact the AMD to confirm the instability when you install 4 memory or whether they should be decrease the frequency to ddr 333 ." replied by ASUS technical support.

Actually 2 * 1024MB should give DDR400 @ 1T command rate. A core as new as the Manchester should allow for 4 * 512MB to run at DDR400 @ 2T command rate. This seems irregular as Venice and San Diego cores have upgraded memory controllers to allow for the latter. Manchester core is even newer!

You might possibly try a BIOS update though it shouldn't really help things much. Perhaps of you set all of your memory settings manually and somewhat relaxed except for the DDR400, maybe it would help. Then you can tweak until things come about as you want them to.

Are all of them matched memort sticks?
