After reading through others posts I see this is a common problem. Getting the metal tabs over the plastic posts needed the help of a screwdriver. Operating the plastic latch lever requires so much force that I'm convinced that it will break. I have tried rotating the assembly 180 degrees with the same outcome. None of the earlier posts showed a solution except one who got another heatsink/fan. I'm tempted to power this up and see if the cpu temperature is within bounds. Any new ideas?

i can say it does requier a good bit of force to move that tab. if the hooks on both sides of the fan are hooked on to the motherboard, then you are set to move the tab from left to right i believe.
